World Fest 2008

After Lydia's morning nap, we left for our first official "outing" since Levi was born. This weekend was World Fest at the Clinton Presidential Library. Necon's sister, Tasha, and his dad, Chief, were dressed in full indian regalia and Tasha also fancy shawl danced. A teepee was set up with lots of different cool indian stuff inside. Their good friend Mike Blair played the indian drum and his wife, Lisa, and Necon's mom, Beth, showed people around inside the teepee. It was super fun for Lydia to see some of her indian heritage in living color. She wasn't sure what to think at first, but she wound up having a great day!!

Hmm...looks kinda like my Papa, but not quite sure

Lydia LOVED playing with the animals!!

Levi was just chillin'

Then Lydia found the fountains! It was so hot, we let her go wild...and she sure did!

She was SOAKING wet...

So we took her clothes off and let her play some more!!

One Week Old

It has only taken a week for us to feel like we have always been a family of four. We can't imagine what it would be like not to have our precious baby boy. Lydia is doing really well adjusting. She gets excited to see him and is sweet most of the time. He has only taken a few good shots to the head...mostly it is sweet kisses or "this little piggy" on his toes! He is still breastfeeding well every 3 hours (which makes mommy REALLY happy) and sleeping 5-6 hours at night (which make daddy REALLY happy). We are having the most trouble learning how to change his diaper without him peeing on us or himself! Hopefully we will get the hang of it soon...

The Double Stroller

Mom decided she wanted to get us a double stroller for our baby gift. After much discussion and research we settled on the Kolcraft Contours stroller. It is SUPER great because it has an attachment that lets us put Levi's carseat in place of one of the seats AND we can change the seats around to face eachother or apart or both face us or both face away from us...there is like 6 different options. PLUS there is a really large storage compartment beneath the seats. Alot of the other strollers we looked at didn't have one that seemed big enough to store anything. I can't wait until we can put them in the stroller facing each other! Anyway...Lydia was dying to go "aht-side" so we grabbed our popsicles and loaded up. The stroller worked GREAT!

As you can see...Lydia LOVES popsicles

This is her new face she makes when she knows she is being cute or funny. It is usually accompanied by a super fake laugh. How do they pick up on these things??

Levi was really wiped out from the long walk around the cul-de-sac...actually this is what he does ALL the time! We have to wake him up in the middle of the night to eat...CRAZY!

Levi will be a week old tomorrow. Having two kids is definitely a big change from just one. Necon has been home with us all week. I have no idea what I am going to do Tuesday when he has to go back to work! Necon is the best dad in the world. He is such a huge help and he really LOVES doing it. We are so blessed that he loves us so much. Levi pretty much just sleeps and eats and then sleeps again. Breastfeeding is actually going REALLY well which is a huge relief to me after the terrible time Lydia had. Now I know why people say they love breastfeeding. It is priceless time I get to spend with Levi, and there is such pride knowing I am providing him with the food he needs.
We took both kids to the doctor on Wednesday. Levi is back to gaining weight and Lydia is still in the 90th percentile for height. She has a 50 word vocabulary which the doctor said was really good for her age. She is a great eater and still sleeps well. We finally got the hang of drinking milk out of the sippy cup and she voluntarily gave up her bottle. We are starting to have trouble with her hitting. She isn't really being mean, she just gets excited and isn't sure how to play with kids (especially ones that are smaller than her.) I am hoping that having Levi and teaching her how to be gentle with him will help with this. As always I am happy for any advice...

Lydia Lovin'

The first few days Levi was home, Lydia was happy to pretend he wasn't here. Every once in a while she would go check him out, but she quickly lost interest. Today he and I were sitting on the couch and she decided she REALLY wanted to see the baby. She was on the verge of throwing a really big fit in a matter of seconds, so we let her on the couch to see what would happen. She was so sweet with him...she just kept saying "Baby" over and over. So cute...
Excited to hold him
Starting a little hug...
The hug continues...daddy had to cut it short!
Tony and Jennie sent us an Edible Arrangement which Lydia thoroughly enjoyed
I'm sure Levi loved it too...
The Andersons sent an arrangement to greet us at the hospital.
It matches Levi's nursery perfectly!!

And Three Became Four

Friday morning we got up bright and early to get to the hospital. I tried really really hard to have everything ready ahead of time. I stayed up until midnight, got up at 5:30 and we were still almost 20 minutes LATE to the hospital!! We walked in and the nurses were all laughing because my family beat me there, which I already knew because I saw mom's car in the parking deck when we were coming in. I walked into the room and saw not only mom, Alicia and Rebecca, but Aunt Susan AND Uncle David, Aunt Beverly, Michelle and Cooper (some of my family from Oklahoma City!!) They ALL made it before we did. We took one last family photo and I changed into my gown, got into bed and went through all of the preparations for our c-section.

Cooper and Lydia waiting for Levi

We rolled back to the OR around 8:30. I was super nervous about my anesthesia because we had a not so good experience with the spinal when we had Lydia. My wonderful nurses had arranged for our head attending anesthesiologist to come for the procedure. It went off without a hitch and from then on, I was completely relaxed!! Levi was born at 9:04 am. I kept waiting to hear the "It's a Boy" announcement, but none came. Necon went to look at him and take some pictures. When he came back to me he eased the fears I had over the last few weeks and said we had a precious baby boy. Everyone was taking bets on how much Levi weighed. They ranged from 7 lbs even all the way to 8 1/2 lbs. I guessed 7 lbs 6 oz...the final total was 7 lbs 5oz.

First Razorback Game Day

We woke up Saturday morning and got ready to watch the Razorbacks. It wasn't the game we hoped for, but we all had fun anyway!!

Lydia showed up around halftime and was even more excited to see her brother than we expected!! She couldn't quit loving on him...so cute!

Feels strange to refer to having kidS, but I couldn't imagine anything being more fun
